Maize Irrigation Study, 1979, Georgia Coastal Plain

Yield Comparisons:

Study:

Research Objective: Determine the effect of depth of water contol zone and of nitrogen management on yield, nitrogen utilization and water use for an irrigated corn-soybean sequential multicrop.
Treatments:
 1.Control - Tensiometer - shallow 15-30 cm at 30cb
 2.Tensiometer - deep 45-60 cm at 30cb
 3.No irrigation

Basic Crop Management: PLANTED - 09 Mar 1979 (placed 2.5-3 cm deep); HARVEST - 10 Jul 1979 (2-row grain combine); TILLAGE - Moldboard Plow (30 cm deep plus smoothing and bed shaping), wheel traffic controlled at 1.2 m centers; FERTILIZATION - Typical Extension Recommended Rate; WEED & PEST CONTROL: Typical Extension Recommendations.
