Peanut Irrigation Study, 1995, Georgia Coastal Plain
Study:

Research Objectives:

    1. Develop irrigation management systems for consistent high yield and quality peanuts for loamy sand soils.
    2. Establish soil water requirements needed for consistent pod development.
    3. Validate peanut irrigation models (especially with respect to restricted irrigation) and evalutate envirocaster and simple Pan scheduling equipment.
Treatments:
1.Soil water content scheduling - when the average soil water content in the 10 to 45 cm depth exceeds 35 kPa schedule an irrigation for the next day (1 day late)
2.Scheduled as treatment 1, except no irrigation during July
3.Scheduled as treatment 1, except no irrigation during August
4.Scheduled as treatment 1, except no irrigation during July and August.
5.Irrigation scheduled by Neogen Envirocaster sensors and model
 6.Evaporation pan schedule
 7.No irrigation

Basic Crop Management: PLANTED - 25 Apr 1995; HARVEST - 20 Oct 1995 ; TILLAGE - Moldboard Plow (30 cm deep plus smoothing and bed shaping), wheel traffic controlled at 1.2 m centers; FERTILIZATION - Typical Extension Recommended Rate; WEED & PEST CONTROL: Typical Extension Recommendations.
Chronological Treatment and Observation Details

Observations and data sets for individual treatments (crop years) follow:

Treatment 2:
Scheduled as treatment 1, except no irrigation during July
Treatment 3:
Scheduled as treatment 1, except no irrigation during August
Treatment 4:
Scheduled as treatment 1, except no irrigation during July or August
Treatment 5:
Irrigation scheduled by Neogen Envirocaster sensors and model
Treatment 6:
