Soybean Irrigation Study, 1981, Georgia Coastal Plain

Yield Comparisons:

Study:
  • Crop: Soybeans) - 'Cobb'
  • Year: 1981
  • Location: USA, GA, Tift County, Gopher Ridge Farm, Block G3
  • Soil Type, USDA Series: Bonifay sand
  • Meteorological Observations: Gopher Ridge, 81

Research Objective: Examine rooting depth and densities in response to soil water conditions under various management practices. This study was also used to compare various management practices and to relate root development in the vegetative stage with above ground growth and with yield.
Treatments:
 1.Control - Tensiometer at 30 cb - vary at 20-60 cm depths
2.Same as Treatment 1 except irrigate only after flower
 3.No irrigation

Basic Crop Management: PLANTED - 24 Jul 1981 (rows 0.9m apart); HARVEST - 07 Nov 1981 (gleaner combine); TILLAGE - Moldboard Plow (30 cm deep plus smoothing and bed shaping), wheel traffic controlled at 1.2 m centers; FERTILIZATION - Typical Extension Recommended Rate; WEED & PEST CONTROL: Typical Extension Recommendations.
Chronological Treatment and Observation Details
