Coastal Plain Water Resources home

The Suwannee and Ochlocknee are river basins that rise in the Georgia Coastal Plain. They form the headwaters and a significant portion of two basins that flow into Florida. While no compact exists to tie these basins to their Florida counterparts or to each, interstate efforts to study and manage these similar basins are underway.

Two organizations that have specific programs in the Suwannee basin are: the Upper Suwannee River Watershed Initiative and the USDA Southeast Watershed Laboratory.
