Flint and Chattahoochee home IRRIGATION DATA

Since the mid-1960's, the Georgia Cooperative Extension Service has conducted surveys on irrigation every 3 to 5 years. They ask local agents in each of Georgia's 159 counties to prepare a report of irrigation practices, acres, and water use in that county. You can see results of the survey for the Southwest region here. It shows trends on crops irrigated and equipment used and provides irrigation amount by crops for the most recent survey made in 2004.

To gain a closer understanding of the irrigation practices of Georgia producers the Georgia Environmental Protection Agency contracted with the University of Georgia to create a statewide irrigation monitoring program and to measure application amounts for a 5-year period. That program was called Ag Water Pumping. You can follow links below to learn more about the program or see the results.
