Dr. Dennis Duncan
Associate Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator
Dr. Duncan was born and raised on a farm in southern Michigan and was a 4-H member for seven years. He started his teaching career as a high school agriscience teacher in Indiana where he taught for four years. While in Indiana Dr. Duncan completed graduate work at Purdue University and then transferred to Michigan State University (MSU) to finish his Master's and pursue a doctorate degree in Agricultural and Extension Education with an emphasis in higher education administration. While at MSU he taught horticulture courses for four years at Lansing Community College and worked for MSU Extension for two years. Upon completion of his PhD in 1997 he and his family moved to Blacksburg, Virginia where he has taught agriculture and horticulture courses for the past seven years at Virginia Tech. Dr. Duncan has served on a number of committees relating to teaching and learning, advising and university recruiting. He has co-authored articles on cross-disciplinary peer education, The Virginia Governor's School for Agriculture, and Virginia Tech alumni perceptions of the Agricultural Technology Program. He is a member of AAAE, NAAE, NACTA & GSD.

Research Interests:
Dr. Duncan's research focus is in program planning and evaluation as they relate to education, and cross-disciplinary peer education. Previous research has been published in the NACTA Journal, The Journal of Agricultural Education, and the Journal of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Education.

Dr. Duncan is currently involved in the teaching and advising of undergraduates
and graduate students in agricultural leadership, education
