of the secondary agricultural education teacher preparation
program on the Tifton campus.
Current
Activities:
Dr. King is part of the Agricultural Education program on
the Tifton Campus of The University of Georgia. She teaches
undergraduate and graduate students in agricultural leadership,
education and communication. In addition, she is involved
in advising undergraduate and graduate students and supervising
student teachers.
Research Focus:
Dr. King’s research interests revolve around teacher
retention. Previous research focused on impacts of bringing
content specialists into classrooms. Future research will
seek to expose reasons teachers exit the profession and highlight
ideas for recruiting, training, and retaining teachers with
greater success.
Career Highlights:
Dr. King began working for the University of Georgia in December
2007. Before coming to Georgia, Dr. King worked as a teaching
assistant and researcher at Texas A&M University while
completing her PhD. Prior to that, Dr. King taught high school
agriculture classes for three years in Crescent City, Illinois.
