Ozias-Akins Biotechnology Laboratory
Scientists in the Ozias-Akins Biotechnology Laboratory conduct research on apomixis and crop improvement through the application of biotechnology.

Located in the National Environmentally Sound Production Agriculture Laboratory at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus, the Ozias-Akins Biotechnology Laboratory is renowned for cutting edge investigations into aposporous apomixis (asexual reproduction through seeds) in Pennisetum species and relatives as well as the genetic enhancement of peanut applying the tools of molecular biology and transformation.

Peggy Ozias-Akins and Joann Conner receive an award from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), USDA for the project entitled, The Role of a Novel Apomixis-linked P2-domain Transcription Factor in Parthenogenetic Embryo Development.
